Gulf Coast State College and the St. Andrew Bay Watch Citizen Science Lecture Series will be hosting Mr. Ray Bodrey, Gulf County Extension Director for a presentation on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00 pm on the 2nd floor of Student Union East in the Gibson Lecture Hall (SUE 231).

Mr. Bodrey will present “Mangroves, a Potential Honey Crop in the Panhandle.” Information will be given on how to identify mangrove stands and the tracking and monitoring of the species.

Mangroves are a native, woody tree commonly found in the coastal and brackish waters of southern Florida. Mangrove honey is a popular crop in the peninsular region of the state. However, through land disturbance and tropical storm events, the distribution of mangroves is being discovered in northern areas of the state and beyond.
